The Indian Navy has been designated as the authority responsible for overall maritime security, which includes coastal security and offshore security. Indian Navy is assisted by Indian Coast Guard, Coastal Police and other Central and State agencies.

Security technologies refer to systems or software developed to enhance security and protect assets, people, and information from unauthorized access or harm.

The exercise, named Sagar Kavach 01/24, aimed to validate the effectiveness of coastal security mechanisms in dealing with asymmetric threats from the sea. Assets from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Marine Police, fisheries, customs, and other security agencies participated in the exercise.
